08.09.2020 | Bender Campus Munich: Demolition and new construction
In 2017 the foundation stone for the new Bender Campus in Munich-Lerchenau was laid in the presence of foundation members, planners, craftsmen and many other guests. EDR has been advising the Fritz Bender Foundation since 2013 and has been entrusted with the project management for the planning and execution of the construction measures.
The first construction phase was completed in 2019 and the premises can be used flexibly. In addition to offices on the upper floor, test benches can be accommodated at any time thanks to a room height of 4.50 m. In the basement there is an underground car park as well as storage and technical areas. By the end of 2023, all buildings on the campus are to be completed. Other planned buildings include a catering unit and a boarding house with 150 apartments as temporary accommodation.
The tenants of the existing buildings will be able to move seamlessly from the old to the new buildings due to the construction work being divided into four sections and the gradual demolition. The new office building will primarily accommodate companies from the automotive industry, as BMW is located in the immediate vicinity of the campus.
Fritz Bender (1907-1986) contributed to the reconstruction of Munich after the Second World War and significantly shaped the cityscape through his "rational construction method". The foundation he established would like to contribute to the revaluation of the north of Munich with the new building. The entire project costs around 90 million euros and will be realized on a floor area of 34,000 m².
